The above fern,
Histiopteris incisa (Dennsteadtiaceae) was one of several species we saw on the recent field trip to Kioloa. I am fond of the Denstaedtiaceae, the bracken family, partly because we had bracken in front of our classroom window when I was in lower high school age. But perhaps I also simply find it impressive what large stands these plants can form where they are thriving.
