Nothofagus (Fagaceae) trees near Puerto Blest, Argentina, in 2009. Or whatever the current genus name for this subgroup of southern beeches is after 
Nothofagus has been split up. In this case the reason for taxonomic changes was not phylogenetic systematics, because 
Nothofagus in its wider circumscription was also monophyletic. If I understand correctly, the idea was to make the age of the genera more comparable to 
Quercus, 
Fagus and suchlike. Either way, I like how this picture came out.
